Visitors to Panama generally do need to purchase a visa along with their passport, but there are exceptions – most European nationals, including British citizens, do not require a visa for stays of up to 90 days. It is still, however, recommended to purchase a visa as immigration rules can change on a frequent basis. US nationals, along with a number of other South American and certain European nationals do not require a visa and can obtain a tourist pass on entering the country, valid for 30 days. As always though, it is best to check with the local embassy before travelling – they can provide up to the minute details and applicable prices.
